About us
The Erasmus Project is a not-for-profit online resource for the benefit of the whole Christian community. The material on this site is available for free to anyone who wishes to use it for any purpose, commercial or otherwise. Community collaboration, in terms of new materials, and corrections and refinements, is welcome.
The Erasmus Project was a spin-off from the development of the erasmus Bible app and is now an independent effort. The focus of each is different - the erasmus Bible app is concerned with a commercial Bible study app whereas the Erasmus Project is focused on providing resources for all developers of Bible software. Our content is in the public domain and our standards are open.
We retain the reference to Erasmus in our name both as a nod to our origin and because we feel a certain parallel between us and Erasmus. He gathered various Greek manuscripts to create what would become known as the Textus Receptus, used for Bible translations for centuries. Likewise, we collect various works, format them, and make them available as a library of works that can be used by those who write Bible software. Even for individual reference works, we sometimes have to piece them together from multiple sources.
Our main focus is in two areas:
- a library of quality formatted public-domain content
- a standard for online prayer lists
